Apple, Dolgo Crab
This cold hardy and vigorous crab apple tree originated in Siberia, hardy to zone 2/3. It has been grown in the northern climates in the US since the early 1900s. An early bloomer with apricot pink buds that blossom into white flowers. High pectin fruit bears in mid-August to early September and is teardrop shaped; “dolgo” means long. A great pollinator for other crabs and early blooms feed hungry pollinators. Tree can grow to be more than 20’ tall and prefers full sun and well drained soil. Potted 3-4’, Standard. This apple tree is self-fertile but it’s better to have another crab apple nearby if heavy fruit production is important.
