Hazelbert is a a hybrid hazelnut developed in the 1920s by Frank Ashworth; a cross between American hazelnut and European filbert. This nut was selected for it’s hardiness, disease resistance and larger nut size. Shrubs grow 8’-12’ and make a great edible hedge for privacy. Hardy to zone 3. Potted ,18-24” requires another plant for pollination. Space 8’-12’ in part shade to full sun. Prefers fertile, well-drained soil, but is widely adaptable.
