Siberian Pea Shrub
Siberian Pea Shrubs can grow to be 6-15’ tall. This legume is extremely cold hardy (to zone 2) and can grow in very poor soil, while fixing nitrogen. Creates habitat for hummingbirds and songbirds. It also makes a great hedgerow or windbreak, helps prevent soil erosion and has very attractive flowers in the spring. Flowers and young pods can be eaten fresh. Older pods can be cooked. Great for dry, sandy soil, but can grow in any well drained soil. Requires full sun or partial sun. Potted 6” plant grown from seed collected at The Farm Between. Self fertile, pollinated by bees.
