Pear, Asian Juicy Jewel
Developed at the University of Minnesota for cold hardiness, Juicy Jewel is a cross between European variety Summercrisp and Asian variety Shinseiki. It is disease resistant and can withstand temperatures to -25, growing well in zones 4. Round yellow-green fruit is juicy, crisp and tropical flavored. Ripens in mid-August and can store for up to three months. Mature tree is 10-15’ tall. Potted 3-4’ whip, semi dwarf. Needs another pear variety to produce fruit.
